Melissa D. Dodd, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor specializing in communication/advertising-public relations and the (co)author of multiple journal publications and book chapters. She has presented papers at several top-tier academic conferences, including the National Communication Association and International Communication Association annual conferences. Her varied research interests include social theory, individual/interpersonal variables, social media, reputation, ethics, and measurement as they relate to public relations. Her grant-funded research has named her an Arthur W. Page Society Legacy Scholar 2012-2013, 2013-2014. In 2010, Dodd received the Brigham Young University Top Ethics Paper Award. She is an Advisory Board Member for the International Public Relations Research Conference and Social Media Co-Chair for the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication's Public Relations Division. Dodd serves on the editorial board for the peer reviewed journal, Communication Research Reports. Dodd has gained practical expertise through several public relations and marketing positions. Most recently, she held a position with the Corporate Communication Department of Bacardi U.S.A. Dodd earned her doctorate in communication with an emphasis on public relations from the University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL) in 2012 where she worked with internationally renowned public relations scholar, Dr. Don W. Stacks.
